Gamechanger, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Adwani, is a story of an angry young man, Ram Nandhan, who finds the need to put his fist to use at every societal injustice. Until he meets the love of his life, Deepika, who encourages him to channelise his anger towards constructive justice.
The movie starts with Ram Nandhan as an IAS Officer meeting Business Owners who have been dealing with illegal and unlawful practises. He issues dramatic warnings urging them to adhere to government norms. In the process of a city-cleanup, he imprisons the workers involved in a mining company which belongs to the adopted son of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Bobbili Mopidevi, played by SJ Surya.
The story kickstarts from here. Though SJ Surya was a signature antogonist on screen, his antics made the film watchable. Ram Charan and SJ Surya's face off where the former explains the role of an IAS officer in the Indian Constitution was a much needed masterclass on the power of Civil Servants.

The film screens 2 flashback portions, one was a love story and the other was Ram Nandhan's father, Appanna's story as a revolutionary from the post-freedom era. His thoughts and views impaired by his speech stutter was a fresh problem on screen and his proxy played by Srikanth ends up becoming the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was a justified action.
The character traits of the Father and Son being the backbone of success behind a political party and Indian Constitution was a breath of fresh air as protagonists are always shown to lead the people.
The movie went wrong with comedy, songs, love portion of the movie, sudden shifts to flashback portions, SJ Surya's predictable counter attacks and a climax that took the audience back to late 80s'. Though Ram Charan and SJ Surya gave it their all to elevate Karthik Subbaraj's story, the movie was let down by Director Shankar's over the top visuals, dialogues and plot pay-out.
