Jagame Thanthiram Poster inspired from The Last Supper?

The most awaited movie of 2020-2021 has been Karthik Subbaraj's Jagamey Thanthiram. The posters and the trailer convey a dark humoured gangster flick with Dhanush in the lead. His previous blockbuster Karnan reached the epitome of success owing to its theatrical experience. The plot of the movie was inspired from the police brutality in Kodiyankulam. The movie received adulation from critics, fans and movie buffs who praised the whole team of Karnan for delivering the war cries of repressed rural folk without adding cinematic masala to it.

Karnan was relased on Amazon Price two months later and the online audience submitted a tepid response for the movie. Dhanush has been increasingly hesitant about his next big feature film Jagame Thanthiram releasing on Netflix directly on June 18th. We believe this may be the reason. He has been repeatedly tweeting about the film's mettle to magnetise crowds to the theatre.

However, Dhanush's fans are ready to celebrate the star on small screen as we see fan-made posters bombarding the internet since the release of the first poster. Netflix's official Twitter handle unveiled the release date by launching a video tribute of an ardent fan spray painting the face of Dhanush's look in the movie. Amul has also recognised this growing star by creating a classic Amul Poster inspired from Jagamey Thanthiram's poster.

This brings us back to the first ever poster released by the Karthik Subbaraj where Dhanush is seen seated on a leather chair in the centre with his fingers over a globe and his partners in crime, traitors and acquaintances seated around him. This poster resembles the Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper where Christ is seen seated in the centre with his 12 apostles, waiting for the impending doom. Dhanush's expression in the poster is one of sarcasm and all-knowing dominance. Is the antagonist part of his clan in the plot?
