May 18th is for Tamil Eelam and Crimea.

May 18, 2021 marks the 12th anniversary of the gruesome genocide inflicted by the Lankan military force on innocent civilians. Mullivaikal was the unfortunate battlefield where lakhs of Tamils were driven out of their homes and brutally murdered on their streets. We see a myriad of posts commemorating this day with lengthy languish, quiet retribution and intense accusation pointed towards the late DMK Party Leader M Karunanidhi.

MK Stalin, his successor, has been popular with the public with his unconventional method of administration on the 1st week of his party coming to power. But, Twitter is brewing with an alarming affair of tweets targeted at MK Karunanidhi for being a Tamil Traitor during the war.

Images of broken white ceramic hand has been surfacing the internet since May 13th. It has been rumoured that Mullivaikal Memorial has been vandalised by the Lankan Government few days before the Remembrance Day. The Lankan government has also intensified the military presence around the memorial since May 13th to avoid a public gathering in the light of the pandemic. Though the reason sounds legitimate, this news has not settled well with the Tamil patriots. There has not been on official statement from the Lankan government on these events. Tamils, settled all over the world, are waiting with bated breath for a public apology.

This journey of sorrow, terror and injustice ended on the same day for another country in Europe - Ukraine. The people from Crimea, a state of Ukraine, faced a similar military assault by Russian Dictator Joe Stalin. Lakhs of Crimean citizens were deported from their homes by force, on this dark day. After the dismembering of Soviet Union, Crimea was absorbed by Ukraine as a peace treaty. Crimea population was split into Crimean Tatars and previously inhabited Russian Citizens. The reign of terror continues as Crimean patriots are kidnapped, tortured and murdered by The Russian aggression. Vladimir Putin has annexed Crimea to Russian Federation by sheer military force. They descended like the conquerers of the medieval times, says an eye witness, Abdureshyt.

The people of Crimea, Ukraine, called as Crimean Tatars are still being driven out of their homes as the world watches in dismay.
