Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is on a blockbuster rampage, on its way to claiming the 800-crore throne. The movie has been declared an "Industry Hit" with first part's popular co-stars returning - Shivraj Kumar, Mohan Lal and Jackie Shroff. Jailer 2 also saw a new set of fresh faces in electric cameos including Bollywood star, Hrithik Roshan and our very own, Vijay Sethupathi.

Director Nelson skips the dreaded fate of sequels in Kollywood by working in the shadows with no audience expectations, zero PR. Sun Pictures stretched it by hosting a private audio launch with the cast and crew sans the fan clubs. However, SuperStar Rajinikanth has made a statement once again that he is here to stay.

Though Jailer saw Rajinikanth in an all new stoic avatar compared to his popular roles like Padaiyappa and Muthu with steamy on-screen aggression and punchy dialogues, Director Nelson chose to retain one toxic trait of Rajinikanth, the actor and not the human being.

Rajinikanth, the actor's female leads have one trait in common. Starting from Vasundhara in Padayappa, Tamizhselvi in Sivaji, Devi in Veera and Subbulaxmi in Thalapathy. Though the star had no role to play in the way the female lead's character traits were designed, it can be concluded that his on-screen parters had pattern - they were helpless, docile, damsels who needed a man's protection.

Things took a turn with Shanthi Devi in Mannan, Durga in Chandramukhi and iconic Neelambari in Padayappa. However, the characters played by Rajini always aimed to subjugate these women before courting them. This trend abruptly stopped with Enthiran. The actor was seen playing opposite Aishwarya Rai in Enthiran and Simran in Petta where the female leads stood toe to toe with the India's biggest superstar. It was a welcoming change.

After 20 years, the star was seen stroking his toxic on-screen nerve once again with his lewd antics with Kantha played by Vidya Balan in Jailer 2. Tamilnadu audience who are considered "knowledgable" and "forward" were seen condemning stars like Sivakarthikeyan for glorifying stalking in Remo and Vijay Devarakonda for promoting narcissism in Arjun Reddy. But has the same audience turned a blind eye because their favourite star is a Green Flag in real life?
