In Gautham Menon's recent interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya AKA VTV was re-visited to celebrate the ideology of soft filmmaking, the character sketches of Karthik and Jessie, played by STR and Trisha, the songs, choreography, the house and the daring ending.

Gautham Menon revealed he was confident about VTV Ganesh's presence in the film although his crew felt he was a wrong casting choice. Ganesh earned his Cognomen VTV Ganesh post the film's success and his unique dialogue delivery. Looking back at his film, Gautham Menon said he would not make any changes to the story, cast nor the end.
Gautham was eager to launch two newcomers for this story, however doubtfully agreed to work with Simbu as a lead. He added that, though Simbu's filmography in 2010 were big ticket commercial hits, STR promised to reveal a new unexplored side of his acting skills for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.

Addressing the problematic side to his female lead, Jessie, Gautham Menon boldy said, "Even I'm a Jessie. I have always been indecisive in life and that's ok. Lot of people are that way."
Over the course of 15 years, audience have seen the darkest versions of grey on big screen with films like Animal and Arjun Reddy. However, they hold on to Jessie as an iconic female lead for being beautiful, brainy and blindsided.
