Have Bollywood Celebrities led to Lakshadweep's Doom?

July to September 2020 witnessed the fall of COVID cases in India and a rise of flights flying to Maldives. Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor were some of the celebrities recooping in Maldives in 2020. Kollywood celebrities like Vishnu Vishal and VJ DD have also seen holidaying in this island when Tamilnadu was recovering from Covid cases.

The public outlashed at the scenic vistas posted on Instagram. They were reprimanded for their insensitive outlook on the virus outbreak. IPL franchise had also barely crossed the public ridicule when it was suspended midway as some of the team players fell prey to Covid. The din has subdued and the government has made a statement that will shake an island out of its peaceful slumber.

Lakshadweep comprising of 35 islands with a population of 60,000 has fallen prey to BJP's eagle eyes. The current administrator of the islands, Praful Patel has proposed Lakshadweep Development Authority Regulation Act 2021 ( LDAR ) which has the potential to convert a quiet island to a buzzling tourist spot. The native residents of Lakshadweep have been protesting against this bureaucratic move which they believe will destroy the ecosystem of the island.

This act also enables the government to lend people homeless as residential homes can be taken over by the government if it fits the framework of LDAR. Locals have been posting anguished videos of fishing sheds being destroyed as a means of this act. Praful Patel, Modi's partner in crime, has approved the sale of alcohol in the city that was previously devoid of intoxication. Locals are also worried that this might lead to an increase in the crime rate as the islands do not have a solid governing body. Lakshadweep islands are run by Local Panchayats & an Administrator appointed by the President of India.

As twitter has become a raging pit of hellfire targeted at the current Administrator Praful Patel, we receive an official statement from Mr Patel. He believes tourism will play a substantial role in uplifting the lives of the Lakshadweep locals. He also takes a dig at the celebrities on why they never consider Lakshadweep for a beach holiday? He claims that his only vision is to convert Lakshadweep into a Smart City like Maldives.
