PSBB School hangs its head in shame!

PSBB school in KK nagar is embroiled in a sexual harassment case that can tarnish its name for good. As per the statement released by the Alumni Association, Mr Rajagopalan, who teaches Accounts and Business Studies, has been violating the personal space of young students with sexually explicit remarks.

He has made inappropriate comments on their physical bodies and slut shamed few students for wearing sleeveless tops. He has made character detrimental statements on students in front of the whole class for talking to boys in the campus. Mr Rajagopalan has also "spanked" his girl students in a "fun" context. The boys who were itching to protest and speak for their friends were instantly silenced by threatening to ban their participation in sports related competitions.

Owing to the pandemic, Mr Rajagopalan has taken a step further, by appearing to a virtual class with a towel wrapped around his waist, leaving his upper body bare. He also has also been texting inappropriate pleasure phrases to his students by calling them "cute" on Whatsapp. He has also threatened his students to keep his texts under wraps if they want good grades.

A student who prefers to keep her identity unknown has called the PSBB's ambience toxic and misogynistic. She has revealed that several of her teachers have made distasteful comments directly to the girls if they find them talking to boys. She also mentions that some teachers had the nerve to tell her, "you are not wearing the right bra for your breasts". Mental health has also been shunned in this campus as a girl student was called "attention-seeking" for slitting her wrist owing to this dehumanising environment.

TN Government has to take action on the PSBB school for this continuous violation of human rights and casteist attitude. Taking action on Mr Rajagopalan is not enough. - Shalin Maria Lawrence, Social Activist.

Mr Rajagopalan has already come under the radar of the management last year for similar accusations. The reason why PSBB has handled this issue with soft hands is unclear.

Several celebrities like Singer Chinmayee, Karnan fame Actor Lakshmi Priyaa and Dayanidhi Maran have tweeted in support of the students and have urged the government to take immediate action against the predator, Mr Rajagopalan

The issue has taken a new turn with ex-students bringing out the religious colouring of the institution and its favouritism towards Hindu and North Indian students. We also hear that Deputy Commissioner has landed in the campus to begin the investigation.
